About

UA Today collects what is happening at the University of Alabama from six separate sources and puts it on one page. It is unofficial, it is free, and it is run by one student.

Why it exists

Campus information at Alabama is scattered by design. The university calendar carries official events. Departments post their own. Student organizations announce on Instagram. Ministries and clubs use group chats. A student who wants to know what is happening tonight has to check five places, so most check none.

UA Today checks them instead, on a schedule, and shows the result in one list. Roughly seven hundred events at a time.

Who builds it

Elijah Purcell built and runs UA Today. He is a psychology and data science student at the University of Alabama Honors College, Class of 2030, on a pre-med track toward psychiatry, and the founder of Purcell Ventures LLC, a software company that builds websites and tools for local businesses.

He wrote the aggregator, the moderation console, and the submission form. There is no team, no funding, and no advertising on this site.
